The month of March in Shenyang doesn’t have to be a boring one. With a number of great live acts rolling in town, as well as Ireland’s biggest drinking festival coming up, you can be sure that there’s plenty of noise and debauchery in store for the coming weeks. Here’s a sampler of what to expect.

1) The On FiresView In Map

Australian party funk band The On Fires infuse Meidiqi Livehouse with a healthy dose of upbeat music this March. Inspired by the likes of The Flaming Lips, Blondie, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, The Clash and The Banshees, the band has spent the past three years on the road, bringing their music to all the major continents of the world.

2) Electronic Themed Party – 10,000 Volts View In Map

Want to know how 10,000 volts rushing through your body feels? Come to think of it, you probably don’t! But one way to get that electric rush without the hazard to your health is by heading over to Party Bar and dancing the night away to DJ Riza’s electronic tunes.

3) St. Patrick’s DayView In Map

Despite being a religious holiday, St. Patrick’s Day has become a worldwide phenomenon associated with green pints and leprechaun hats. You can be sure that Shenyang’s main expat bars, like Mulligan’s, will be hosting parties with nice drinks specials. Unfortunately the 17th of March falls on a Thursday, so be sure to stock up on Advil for the next day at work.

4) DudeView In Map

Beijing-based expat band Dude take traditional Chinese songs to a whole other level. Their emo-versions of songs like Yuliang Daibiao Wo De Xin (月亮代表我的心) are surprisingly entertaining, and you’ll also hear covers of classic Western rock songs thrown in the mix.
