In order to alleviate problems with finding a taxi in the city, Nanchang started testing a new “carpooling meter” in 10 taxis at the beginning of January. This special meter is able to track separate fairs and invoices for four passengers simultaneously, with each passenger paying a 60% fare on common roads. The program is still in the early stages of development; if it proves successful, the program will be expanded to more taxis in the future.
