Lenovo and ZTC Under Investigation for US Patent Infringement
May 17, 2016 By eChinacities.com

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) launched an investigation earlier this month into several electronic device makers over alleged patent infringement. Sony, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Blackberry, and China’s Lenovo, ZTE, and HTC are under investigation for violation of section 337 of the US Tariff Act of 1930.

The investigation is based on a complaint filed by Singapore’s Creative Technology Company. The company’s California office filed a complaint on March 24, 2016.

Section 337 of the US Tariff Act of 1930 deals with imported products that infringe on US intellectual property rights. The section is usually brought up in complaints of patent or trademark infringement but has been used in cases of copyright, copying of industrial design, counterfeiting operations, false advertising, violations of anti-trust laws, and so on.
