Jinan has several pleasant parks that offer a pleasant refuge from the city. Some of these parks are pleasant in fact, that Jinan has started to go by the name of "the water spring city". 1) Huancheng Park View In Map

Huancheng Park is home to the Black Tiger Springs (黑虎泉), a popular summer getaway destination for Jinan locals. While swimming and enjoying the springs here, you'll notice that a lot of people (locals and tourists alike) fill water into containers. In fact, according to locals, a sip of spring water can be one of the most refreshing and healthy drinks. You can also take a stroll along the Hucheng River (护城河) or dip your feet into the cool waters of the river (season permitting).

2) Daming Lake Park View In Map
Daming Lake Park has been added to this list because in the southeastern newly built portion of the park, there is an area that has free entry. The scenery here is just as good as the ticketed portions of Daming Lake Park. The park area is lined with willow trees and the lake sparkles in the sunlight. The locals know this free area of Daming well, so get to the park early to enjoy a quieter walk.

3) Spring City Park View In Map
Spring City Park was originally Jinan's botanical park, and you can still see traces of its botanical heritage in the grasses and flowers throughout the park. Spring City also has a huge water park complete with a slide, artificial waves, "magic" springs and more fun items for the family to enjoy during the summer months. There is even a Ferris wheel, providing the perfect opportunity to take in the whole cityscape of Jinan. If you're not in the mood to spend money on rides and attractions, just enjoy the park and the fresh air, which is always free, and take a few pictures while you're at it.

4) Jinan Forest Park View In Map
Jinan Forest Park was opened at the end of 2010 as one of Jinan's free parks. This park is also western Jinan's only multipurpose forest and wetland park. A quick stroll is certainly possible, but this large park will take a good amount of time to see in its entirety. The park's science museum is also free and worth a look while you're strolling through.
