Job description: HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER

Details of Position
We teach over 90 students in 3 grades in a variety of North American (NA) high school style courses.
Grade 10 focuses on the core English language learning (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening) and introduces NA courses.
Grade 11 builds on previous skills learned and immerses students into a full-on NA program. Grade 12 continues improving on previous learning but provides more of an intro to NA university approach methods with courses designed to specifically challenge students.

This Program has a base curriculum designed to mimic or exceed a normal NA high school but maintains an open-mind to experimental learning and course subjects. It also provides annual professional development opportunities in various forms, including: an academic conference, outdoor teambuilding activities, and networking events.

Responsibilities
- Deliver courses to a high pedagogical standard
- Evaluate student progress, give accurate assessments, and provide guidance for improvement
- Maintain healthy working environment and comply with School standards
- Develop, update, and maintain materials for current or future courses
In addition to the core English courses, qualified teachers have developed and are currently teaching the following courses: English Literature, US History, Western Civilization, Human and Physical Geography, Public Speaking, Academic Writing, Academic Reading, TOEFL Preparation, Fundamentals of Business, Computer Science, and Calculus.

Many teachers have the chance to develop courses based on their specific interests and get the opportunity to gain university preparatory teaching experience in these courses for the 12th Grade.

Qualifications
Required:
- 2 years’ experience in a teaching role (experience teaching in a high school setting preferred)
- TESOL certification (100 – 120 hour program) (required)
- Bachelor’s degree (Within an associated offered course discipline) (Master’s preferred but not required)
Salary and Benefits
- $2600 USD exchanged into RMB opening monthly salary (before tax)
- Typical Mon-Fri, 7:00 - 15:00 schedule with a maximum of 20 teaching hours per week and maintaining a 40 hour work week
- Summer (paid after completion of one year) and winter (paid) vacations commensurate with School academic calendar, plus all Chinese national holidays
- Flight allowance to home country or equivalent to travel destinations (One-way provided to Qingdao prior to contract / One-way provided to choice after completion of contract)
