Location and Climate

Shijiazhuang is situated in the south central part of Hebei province on the Huabei Plain, 38°04' north latitude and 114°29' east longitude. The city borders Shanxi province, with Beijing and Tianjin to the north and the Bohai Sea and Huabei Oil Fields to the east. Because of its northern China location, the city experiences continental climate with four distinct seasons (cold winters and hot summers). The annual average temperature is 13°C. Daytime maximums in the coldest month (January) are around 2C (36F), while in July, the mercury peaks at around 33C (91F). Rainfall is light to moderate: the wettest months are July and August.
