New high speed railway routes will be opened January 1-March 15 to cope with the extra passenger flow during the busy spring period. There will be four additional trains put into service.

Routes D901/902 and D903/904 will run between Beijing West and Shenzhen North whilst routes D921/922 and D923/924 will run between Beijing West and Guangzhou South station.

All the trains are direct and will operate 6 days a week, stopping services on Thursdays.

The additional trains will no doubt be welcome, but they come at a much higher price than ordinary tickets- the lowest sleeper fare on these routes is 990 RMB and prices continue up to 3960 RMB.

Prices will vary according to when you travel and when you purchase tickets. Journeys on Monday- Wednesday and Saturdays will have the lowest prices, Friday and Sunday will charge inflated weekend rates and holiday and peak travel times will charge even higher prices.

Purchasing 30-11 days in advance, 10-4 days in advance or within 3 days will also give you access to different discounts.
