In order to ensure safety and maintain order on the streets of Guangzhou, it has been announced that a further 200 armed police officers will be sent on patrol carrying submachine guns. These officers will assist the already 12,000 strong police service. The city currently has 1,916 foot patrols and over 30,000 CCTV cameras.
