Located on the city's swanky Hengshan Road, and completed in 1925, the Shanghai Community Church was built by a group of wealthy overseas Chinese. The church was originally founded in 1917 when an American Christian organized a choir on Donghu Road. The Gothic-style church now occupies an area of 7,300sqm. The church's acoustic characteristics are said to be perfect for choirs like the one that originally led to its existence.
