Montessori Lead Teacher
REPORTS TO Campus Principal
RESPONSIBLE FOR Chinese English Teacher, English Specialist, Teacher Assistants

Payment and benefits : negotiable 18000-25000RMB/month , depends on the teachers professional background .

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Curriculum Implementation & Management
 Build and refine the management system to ensure the best academic results
 Ensure the Montessori curriculum is implemented in your classroom
 Establish classroom policies, procedures, and forms to successfully
implement the Montessori curriculum
 Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the Montessori
curriculum
 Care for and maintain the classroom materials
 Manage classroom conduct (children and teachers), including the

management of discipline

Classroom Supervision and Management
 Maintain courtesy, respect, and positive disciplinary procedures with children
 Ensure each child receives equal opportunities for education in all areas of learning according to the child’s developmental needs
 Provide a safe environment for the children placed in your charge until each has been dismissed or handed over to another responsible adult
 Place the child’s interests first above other personal and professional considerations
 Manage classroom conduct (children and teachers), including the management of discipline

Academic Supervision & Support

 Set aside time for meetings with the teaching assistants so that questions and observations may be shared
 Supervise the teaching assistants and special instructors (e.g. art, chess,etc.) who deal with the children in the group
Academic Training
 Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support in the use of the Montessori curriculum and Montessori materials
 Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support in the use of academic/administrative forms
 Together with Academic Department, organize and carry out professional development days

Environmental Management & Support
 Prepare an environment in which the furnishings and materials are complete and correspond to the needs of the group

Administrative Duties

 Prepare and manage the classroom budget
 Maintain the classroom inventory
 Assess classroom needs and prepare requests for materials, furnishings,
and supplies within the framework of the budgeting process
 Maintain current accurate academic records for each child
 Maintain current attendance records
 Prepare a detailed accident report in the event of an accident or injury,
documenting what took place
 Issue a monthly home journal (approved by the Principal) on each child
 Assist in interviewing prospective students when necessary
 Keep daily up-to-date records of all developmental progress of each
child
 Keep the Principal informed of any continued negative behavior on the
part of a child that is inappropriate or affecting the rights of other children (This includes things the Lead Teacher feels are significant enough to report to the parents)

Other Duties and Responsibilities
 Maintain a professional, not personal, relationship with parents and share necessary information in a timely and helpful way
 Coordinate parent-school communication and ensure each family receives bulleting, newsletters, and other handouts, paying special attention to exceptional family situations
 Assist in the admissions process by arranging a time for parents to observe in the classroom, speaking to prospective families, and assisting with the screening of visiting students
 Consciously work at developing close, trusting, and effective relationships with parents, encouraging them to bond with both their child’s classroom and the larger school community

The Lead Montessori Teacher will meet with the campus Principal once a week for briefing. When requested, he/she will attend other meetings, where deemed necessary.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Implementation & Management
 Prepare teaching materials during set prep time
 Create original teaching materials each month
 Ensure all English curricula is implemented in the classroom

Academic Supervision & Support

 Lead large group and small group lessons during scheduled times
 Provide an immersive English speaking environment throughout the
school day
 Provide feedback and suggestions to other English teachers in regards to
success/useful teaching methods
 Communicate and cooperate with the Chinese English teacher to ensure both parties are on the same page in regards to content
 Monitor student progress and maintain a portfolio for each student

Administrative Duties
 Assist Lead Teacher in reviewing and editing all English materials, parent
letters, and Student Reports to ensure no language mistakes are made
 Attend weekly meetings with classroom teaching team

Other Duties and Responsibilities

 Serve as liaison between English Teachers, other teaching staff, campus
administrators, parents, where necessary and appropriate
 Greet students and parents at the door (model and practice English)
 Maintain good relationships with parents and keep them well informed
about their student’s progress
 Adhere to appropriate dress code for working with young students
 Help cover classes in the event of a colleague’s extended absence
 Early childhood experience (preferred)
