School Profile: 

Shenzhen Middle School (SMS) is the largest and highest ranked public high school in Shenzhen. Admission to SMS is extremely competitive, with only students placing in the top 3% of the high school entrance examination given the option to enroll. Shenzhen Middle School has roughly 5000 students across three curriculums on the main Luohu campus. Foreign faculty are concentrated in the Advanced Placement Program (APP), an internationally focused program with nearly 600 students across three grade levels. Students from the APP regularly receive offers to study at Global Top-20 Universities and 90% of the students who complete the program gain admittance to top-50 U.S. universities, The APP currently offers 15 unique CollegeBoard certified Advanced Placement (AP) courses and is expanding every year.

Openings:

The Advanced Placement Program is looking to fill a position teaching AP Art History.

Candidate Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in relevant fields (teaching certificate preferred) + TESOL
• At least 2 years teaching experience, preferably with experience teaching AP Art history
• Candidates with professional qualifications and in-country experience in international programs preferred
• Ability to apply appropriate teaching pedagogy to evaluate students
• Familiarity with CollegeBoard
• Professional disposition and appearance
• Cultural awareness and knowledge of the Chinese education system
• Ability to coordinate classes with other instructors
In addition to the above requirements, the APP is looking for candidates with a proven track record of self-improvement, positive and constructive attitudes, and the desire to continue seeking professional development in a high-level international program. Only applicants from North America and the United Kingdom are currently being considered.

Work Schedule and Responsibilities:

• Teach assigned classes. 40 working hours per week in total: 20 office hours and 20 teaching hours. 
• Prepare for class, grade homework, answer questions from students during office hours
• Help develop class-specific curriculum for the APP

Typical work days are Monday to Friday from 7:15am to 12:15pm then 1:00pm to 4:15pm. Classes are 45-minutes long. Average class size is 20-30 students.
