Directly reporting to the Director of Test Content, the primary job objective is to become fluent in SAT style and subject matter and produce questions and explanations testing the same skills and knowledge. Duties will include other educational writing and curriculum development tasks. Writers will be trained but are expected to master the material quickly.

Successful applicants must have strong skills in either English or mathematics. Candidates who are competent in both areas are especially encouraged to apply.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Master the style and content of various standardized test math or verbal items.

• Write and edit standardized test math or verbal items modeled on the actual tests.

• Produce written explanations of standardized test math or verbal items.


PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Individual Knowledge and Core Competency include:

• Strong (though not necessarily perfect) written English language skills (successful candidates can expect these skills to be greatly improved) or strong mathematics skills and functional English.

• Strong analytical skills, paired with intellectual curiosity. Interest in and enjoyment of written English, mathematics, or standardized testing is also highly desirable.

• Ability and willingness to master highly specialized assignments without becoming discouraged or defensive.

• Creativity, specifically the ability to write original test material.

• A self-starter capable of thriving in a fast-paced, fluid start-up environment.

• A proven team player who can work effectively with people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
