The course is logistics or supply chain management.
The students are college students, aging from 17-21. They have been learning English since grade one in primary school or earlier. They have learned most sentence structures, most grammatical rules, and have around 2000-3000 vocabulary.
There is a text book.
The number of students in each class is around 50.
The students are generally eager to learn, hard- working and friendly to teachers.
Each teaching hour is 45 minutes, and two teaching hours is one class with a 10- minute break in between.
All the classes are on weekdays and no office hours. For teachers’ convenience, we normally arrange each teacher’s classes in 3 or 4 days, to leave 3 or 4 off days(including the weekends) for the teacher.
The workload is 16 teaching hours per week, and may include some conversation classes. The salary and benefits are: salary: CNY6000-7000 per month. Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College (SFTC) is a state-owned institute in the charge of the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province.
SFTC is an institution of higher education and offers three-year full-time programs dedicated to the spread of knowledge and training of skills needed in international trade and related business. Founded in 1964, it is one of the earliest schools in China specializing in international business education, and so far the only institution of its kind in Shandong Province. It also offers various short-term part-time training programs, and serves as an e-learning outlet for several universities. Recently it extended its focus to engage in outsourcing training, and was named an Outsourcing Talents Training Base of Shandong Province. Over 7000 students attend SFTC full-time.
SFTC is located in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Shandong, a province located on the eastern coast of China, is the birthplace of Confucius and Mencius, and has played a major role in Chinese history from the beginning of Chinese civilization along the lower reaches of the Yellow River and served as a pivotal cultural and religious site for Taoism, Chinese Buddhism, and Confucianism. It has emerged as one of the most populous (94 million in 2008) and most affluent provinces in China (GDP of 3.38 trillion CNY in 2009, ranking 3rd).
Qingdao (also known in the West as Tsingtao), lying at the southern end of the Shandong Peninsula while looking out to the Yellow Sea, is a major seaport and industrial center. It is one of the 14 cities first opened in 1984. Most of Shandong's large foreign trade companies are based in this city. In 2008, it was named China's 7th-most livable city. Not only a great tourist attraction, it is also home to many famous Chinese brand names such as Tsingtao Beer, Haier and Hisence. Along with Beijing's hosting of the 2008 Summer Olympics, Qingdao was the host city for the Olympic Sailing competitions.
