A bride stranded in her hometown in Sichuan province couldn’t make it back in time for her wedding ceremony, so instead of cancelling the wedding and disappointing all their guests (or, you know, doing it another day) the groom got her sister to fill in for her.
Liu Wei, the groom, persuaded his sister in law to put on the dress and perform the ceremony with him. She was reluctant at first but relented in the end.
Seeing as in China actual marriage registration and the wedding ceremony are separate, the ceremony wasn’t legally binding.
In the end she ‘tied the knot’ in front of 300 wedding guests, who may or may not have felt equally weird about the whole thing, even sealing the deal with a kiss.
The groom later said “After all, the ceremony is just going through the motions and a way to make people get together and have some fun,"

Wow. As expected the men commenting on here are gross and creeptasticly perverted. You lot make the groom look like an knight. I guess all men secretly wish women were interchangeable fck-bags. My bride is missing why not just go to her sister? I wonder if creeps like this groom and the commenters above are all congratulating each other on how awesome this guy is while taking turns beating each other off. Hmmmm... Yeah sounds about right.

He's trying to spark something with the sister. And how on Earth are you not on a plane and in the city where you live and plan to marry the days leading up to your wedding.

So, wait, did they 'seal the deal' that night too??? Because that would have made this story far more interesting.

Not surprising. Chinese are ALWAYS late. What fool organises a wedding that they can't make it to?

Umm... okay? And Chinese wonder why the rest of the world think they are weird. Standing in is weird enough, why did they kiss to seal the deal...?
